Abeyon has been supporting the Military Sealift Command (MSC) for over 10 years focusing on IT Modernization, Data Analysis, and AI Solution Development. Abeyon has been supporting MSC building several modules within MSC’s enterprise maintenance management system, SAMM (Shipboard Automated Maintenance Management). Abeyon follows DevSecOps approach and implements software solutions using Agile development methodology to achieve efficiency and mission delivery innovation.
In addition to application development, Abeyon has been supporting the MSC in its mission towards Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) approach. This has led to some impactful solutions, like addressing the issue of poor repair data quality by designing an AI solution using open-source Large Language Models (LLMs). This solution successfully identified, extracted, and assigned equipment for all repair and work items, mapping all historical work items in the past five years to the right equipment.
Additionally, we tackled the challenge of limited visibility into failure modes by building an AI solution that leverages LLMs to correctly identify failure mode occurrences in unstructured repair text. This provided valuable insights for the Maintenance Effectiveness Review (MER) process.
We’ve also been working on creating efficiency in utilizing technical manuals. For instance, we implemented an AI solution that compares maintenance procedure text with technical manual text to identify and map maintenance procedures to the right technical manual, streamlining engineering operations and the MER process. Furthermore, we’ve used LLMs to automatically create Table of Contents and Bookmarks for large technical manuals, enabling engineers and operators to find specific information quickly and easily.
